Kevin De Bruyne’s value to the Manchester City cause has been further underlined by his performance against Crystal Palace.

Pep Guardiola’s side entered a potentially tricky encounter at the Etihad Stadium without the services of top marksman Sergio Aguero.

The Argentine striker has netted 18 Premier League goals for City this season, while also providing one assist.

That return has, however, now been bettered by his Belgian colleague, with De Bruyne on target against the Eagles before laying on a late effort for Nicolas Otamendi.

De Bruyne’s tally of 15 assists this season is a Premier League high, with no player able to match those efforts.

He has seen his goal-scoring figures dip this term, having netted 16 times in all competitions during his debut campaign with City, but his value in the final third remains without question.

His contribution in a 5-0 win over Palace has allowed Guardiola’s side to cement their standing inside the top four as they chase down Champions League qualification.
