Copa Coca-Cola Abuja regional final Wrap: Kano seal national finals spot

Benue 0-0 Niger
 
Ndayako Day Secondary School of Niger State were forced to a 0-0 draw by Mbagwa Community Secondary School of Benue State at the GSS, Jabi field on Thursday.
 
Knowing only a win would boost their qualification quests, the Lessel based boys had two points and needed to beat leaders Niger, who on their own part had three points and maximum points against Benue will give them an edge in pursuit of the top spot.
 
Disappointingly, both teams failed to find the back of the net with Benue dominating the proceeding thanks to the brilliant display from Agbe Gabriel and Shrisha Johnmark.
 
In the second half, the Niger side also had their promising moments but couldn’t make them count as both ended their contest sharing the spoils.
 
The stalemate sees Niger accruing four points from three games to finish runners-up, while Benue secured three points after drawing all their games to end in the third spot.
 

Kano 1-0 Kaduna
 
Government Secondary School, Gwale of Kano State defeated Christ Comprehensive College, Kakuri of Kaduna State 1-0 to secure the qualification spot at the Abuja regional finals.
 
With exciting news of Benue playing a 0-0 draw with Niger,the Kano boys knew only a point against their northern neigbours will be enough to clinch the coveted ticket to the national finals.
 
It was Christ College, who had just one-point from two games that were poised to silence the GSS in Gwale starting the clash creating numerous chances but failed to find a breakthrough.
 
15 minutes to the break, the Kano side looked to have regained their mojo and pressed hard for an opener with their closest chance coming through Auwal Muhammed hit the woodwork.
 
In the second half, GSS found a glorious opportunity inside their opponent’s yard with Mubarak Inuwa wasting no time to fire what turned out the winning goal past the goalkeeper from a goal-mouth scramble.
 
The victory means the Kano side finished top of the Abuja regional log with seven points from three games, while Kaduna, on the other hand wrapped up their campaign with only a point.
