Contrasting fortunes for African players as Crystal Palace shock Leicester City

Wilfried Zaha and Bakary Sako were on target as Crystal Palace secured their first away win in the 2017-18 season, over 10-man Leicester City in Saturday's English Premier League encounter.

Nigeria international Wilfred Ndidi was sent off for a second bookable offence in the 62nd minute, and with his side two goals down.

Benteke atoned for midweek's mistake by getting the visitors to a perfect start after scoring a header off Andros Townsend's cross in the 19th minute.

Five minutes before the interval, Zaha doubled their lead off an error from the Foxes' lynchpin Riyad Mahrez. The Algeria winger lost possession of the ball in the build-up and his side suffered the consequences by going two-goal down.

Two minutes after the hour mark, the Foxes' fightback was handed a major blow as Ndidi was shown a second yellow card for a dive, thus, leading to his dismissal on his 21st birthday.

Sako, on as a substitute for Benteke, then wrapped up an impressive showing for Roy Hodgson's men after curling an emphatic effort past Kasper Schmeichel, from another counterattacking situation.

Jeffrey Schlupp also had an impressive outing but was booked in the 67th minute. The Ghana international, alongside his teammates from Cote d'Ivoire and Mali saw out the entire duration of the tie at the King Power Stadium.

Mahrez was also on from start to finish in the frustrating tie while Nigeria's Kelechi Iheanacho returned to the subsitutes' bench - for the 13th time since his summer move from Manchester City - but never made it out to the pitch.

The loss ended Claude Puel's side four-match winning run, while their visitors are now unbeaten in seven matches since losing 1-0 to Tottenham Hotspur early last month, and have now moved out of the bottom three.
