The gaffer of the Solid Miners has revealed that his players’ impressive form against Babaganaru's men did not come as a surprise to him

Nasarawa United coach, Kabiru Dogo has stressed that their 3-0 victory over Yobe Desert Stars in Sunday's Nigeria Professional Football League tie did not come to him as a surprise.

Goals from Abdullahi Abubakar, Thomas Zenke and Kabiru Balogun handed the Solid Miners their biggest win of the season at the Lafia Stadium.

However, the coach disclosed that his team could have scored at least nine more goals had they converted all the chances that came their way.

“It was a good win for the team. First of all, we must thank God for making it possible for us to get the maximum points.  We were only able to convert three of the chances that we created. My boys had lots of opportunities to make it a big win but they could not take all,” Dogo told Goal.

“I do not have doubt in my players because I know that they can beat any team if they are in their strides. We have been playing very well in all the matches that we have featured this season but our undoing has been converting the chances we create.

“We will keep on working on it to ensure that the strikers perfect the act the more. We are happy with this win and we use the new few days to further tutor the players on what they must do to take their chances better. We cannot afford to be throwing chances away.

“Yobe Desert Stars are a good side but they met my boys in their elements today (Monday). We will go into the next game with Niger Tornadoes with the conviction that we can add to their lack of points in recent games,” he concluded.

The victory has taken Nasarawa United to 11th position in the league standings with nine points from seven games and they will visit Lokoja this weekend for a date with Niger Tornadoes.
