Swansea City manager Paul Clement says new signing Jordan Ayew is in good shape to make his debut against Leicester City on Sunday.

The Ghana striker trained with the Jack Army for the first time on Thursday following his acquisition from Championship outfit Aston Villa on transfer deadline day.

The 25-year-old has had to delay linking up with the Welsh club due to his involvement in the just-ended Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon.

“Jordan is in good shape,” Clement said, as reported by his club's official website.

“He joined training on [Thursday] morning [and] he is ready to go.

"He will be involved on Sunday, although I haven’t decided on the team yet.

“His fitness is fine. It’s more about getting the information into him that he needs to go out and do his job.”

Ayew joined Swansea in a swap deal, which saw Neil Taylor move the other way.

He signed a three-and-a-half-year contract for an undisclosed fee.

Overall, Ayew netted 10 times in 58 appearances for Villa, following his acquisition from French club Lorient in 2015.

He struck seven times in the Premier League last season, but his goals were apparently not enough to save the Claret and Blue Army from relegation.

The French-born, who previously played for Marseille, Lorient and Sochaux, had two goals in 21 league outings this season before his departure.
