Christian Pyagbara says he is set to play against Wikki Tourist after completing his switch to Enugu Rangers from Akwa United for the rest of the season.

The forward terminated his contract with the Promise Keepers this April and his exit brought to an end one of his most exciting club careers since joining from Enyimba in 2016.

During his stint at Akwa, the 22-year-old helped Abdu Maikaba's side clinch the 2016 Federation Cup title, scoring seven goals to claim the top scorer gong plus a fourth-place league finish in 2017.

However, Pygbara has struggled for fitness and form this season and saw his playing time with the Uyo-based outfit dry up following the arrival of Victor Mbaoma and form of Micheal Ibe.

Having sealed his move, the former youth international is eager to make his mark under new gaffer Gbenga Ogunbote and power them to domestic glory, beginning against Bala Nikyu's side.

“I have joined Enugu Rangers [from Akwa United] and already sorted out my contract with the club," Pygbara told Goal.

"I'm very happy to join the team and not there for something else than to play football and do what I'm good at. I've been training with the team since I joined a few days ago.

"I've enjoyed a good reception and reunited with some of my former teammates. I'm excited to come over to Rangers and eager to get some good experience with them and rediscover myself too.

"This is an ambitious club and I want to help the team win trophies. I am set to prove my worth here and ready to go if the coach picks me to play against Wikki Tourist."
