Both sides are struggling to find form of late, but our tipster is backing Arsene Wenger's men to edge a high-scoring game at the Emirates Stadium

Arsenal's ambitions of finishing in the top four of the Premier League are hanging by a thread. The Gunners showed spirit as they twice came from behind to claim a point from Sunday's showdown with Manchester City in north London, but Arsene Wenger's side are in poor form ahead of Wednesday's crucial clash with West Ham United.

The hosts have won just three of their last 10 games in all competitions, with two of those victories coming against non-league opposition - Sutton United and Lincoln City respectively in the FA Cup - while the Gunners have picked up just four points from their last six Premier League matches.

Wenger's side, therefore, will be acutely aware that there is no room for error when they line up against Slaven Bilic's men at Emirates Stadium but the home side are red-hot favourites to win, with Paddy Power offering just 2/5 (1.40) that the Gunners take all three points.

West Ham, too, are in woeful form; the east Londoners have been beaten in each of their last four fixtures and with just six points separating the Hammers from the bottom three in the standings, Bilic and his players must find a way to stop their slide down the table. The visitors are chalked up as a 7/1 (8.0) chance with Paddy Power to crank up the pressure on Wenger by winning this one, while the same firm go 7/2 (4.50) that the match remains all square at the end of 90 minutes.

Alexis Sanchez appeared to be at the peak of his powers when these two teams last met; the Chilean hit a sublime hat-trick as Arsenal claimed a crushing 5-1 win at London Stadium back in December and there is plenty of potential for the goals to flow again when the rivalry is renewed.

There have been at least four goals scored in each of Arsenal's last five games in all competitions and the odds compilers offer 5/4 (2.25) that the trend continues here, while Paddy Power go 8/13 (1.62) that there are goals at both ends; that particular play would have landed in four of the Gunners' last five games, as well as in each of West Ham's last seven matches.

Arsenal have won 11 of their last 13 fixtures against the Hammers, with just one of the last 10 meetings producing fewer than three goals - West Ham's 2-0 triumph in north London on the opening weekend of last season.

Backing the Gunners to return to winning ways in a goal-laden game, therefore, may reap rewards for punters and the 5/6 (1.83) quote from Paddy Power for Arsenal to win a game featuring at least three goals could offer decent value ahead of Wednesday's fixture.
