The slim victory consolidated Bandari's position in second place thanks to a second-half strike by Wycliffe Ochomo

Bernard Mwalala extended Nzoia Sugar’s woes with a slim win over his former employers after Bandari picked maximum points on Saturday.

The victory consolidated Bandari's position in second place thanks to a second-half strike by Wycliffe Ochomo. Mwalala joined Bandari in June from Nzoia and the former Kenyan striker has since changed the fortunes of the side.

The home side started on a high note when Abdalla Hassan forced Benson Mangala to an early save and the Nzoia keeper was once required to be on form to deny William Wadri with a finger-tip save.

Mike Luvutsi went to the referee’s book with a yellow card caution as Bandari bossed their way. Nzoia won a free-kick in a dangerous area in the process, but the visitors didn’t make much threat with the rare chance.

Bandari breakthrough came in the 75 when Ochomo pounced on a loose ball to score the winner. Bandari, who are undefeated in 11 league games, took their tally of the season to 51 points.
