Ayew's Palace strike wins West Ham United award

Andre Ayew’s stunner at Crystal Palace has been voted West Ham United's Goal of the Month of October.

The attacker beat off competition from striker Javier 'Chicharito' Hernandez and Palace Ladies ace Amber Stobbs for the accolade.

At Selhurst Park, the Ghanaian intercepted a pass halfway, and on a solo run, turned Scott Dann inside out before hitting a rocket into the top left corner of the net from outside the box to put the Irons 2-0 up.

However, it eventually ended in disappointment for West Ham as Wilfried Zaha netted an equalizer in the last minute of injury time after Luka Milivojevic halved the deficit on 50 minutes.

In a poll decided by supporters of West Ham, Ayew earned 39% of the votes while Chicharito and Stobbs garnered 26% and 16% respectively.

The 27-year-old's strike is also in contention for the Premier League Goal of the Month of October.

The winner of the award will be announced on Friday.
