The Ghanaian looks back on his club's pulsating stalemate at Stadio Olimpico on Tuesday

Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Teye Partey believes his side, with luck, could have run away with three points in Tuesday's Uefa Champions League clash with AS Roma.

Having showed good form this season, the Ghanaian was rewarded with another starting place and eventually lasted for the entire duration as the Red and Whites held the Italian club to a goalless draw at Stadio Olimpico.

The stalemate leaves Diego Simeone's outfit second in Group C, behind Chelsea who thrashed Azerbaijani side Qarabag FK 6-0 at Stamford Bridge.

“We tried everything, we had a great game,” Partey said.

“But with the bad luck of not scoring. We have no choice but to keep going but it wasn’t to be.

“Playing well on a personal level? The important thing is the team, the personal aspect comes after.

“We tried and did everything possible, but it’s not an easy place to play. We tried to hold them back but we couldn’t.

“Now it’s time to think about the next match. We have to keep going. A point away from home is good for us.”

Partey, who had 24 club outings in all competitions to his name last season, has made a combined three appearances this term.
