Arsenal, Real Madrid target and FIFA 17 Rising Star of FUT Kylian Mbappe stars again

One of Europe's most-wanted, the teenager shone brightest once again as he hit his 16th goal of the season to guide Monaco past Bordeaux

This past weekend saw Monaco starlet Kylian Mbappe prove his FIFA 17 FUT rating will no doubt be on the rise after yet another impressive performance in Ligue 1.

With some of Europe’s biggest clubs, including Arsenal, Real Madrid and Barcelona, reported to be keenly tracking the 18-year-old's progress, the youngster starred in Saturday’s defeat of Bordeaux, hitting what was already his 16th goal of the season.

Selected as one of Goal’s 50 Rising Stars of FUT, the teenager’s pace, creativity and cool head in front of goal have been evident all season long, but he showed yet another string to his bow this past weekend, entering into a team-high 16 duels.

"He is 18 years old and what he does is amazing," team-mate Bernardo Silva told Le Figaro. “He has something special. On top of that, he just works so hard.”

One could be mistaken for thinking Mbappe was taking a well-deserved breather in the 67th minute when strike-partner Falcao was fighting for a dropping ball in the area, but the scores of onlooking scouts quickly realised he was doing no such thing as he ghosted into the area to effortlessly pass into the net from 12 yards.

Joao Moutinho almost stole the headlines with a stunning second for the league-leaders, but it was Monaco’s latest poster boy who was once again the star of the show.

In a tight affair in the Principality, Mbappe created a game-high two chances for his colleagues while nobody had more shots (three) at the opposition goal.

He has now struck 10 goals in just 10 Ligue 1 starts in what is proving a breakout season for a teenager fast becoming Europe’s most wanted.

The first of those 10 saw him break Thierry Henry’s 21-year-record to become the youngest goalscorer in Monaco’s history, at the age of 17 years and 62 days.

And Silva isn’t the only one suggesting he could go on to emulate one of the game’s greatest.

"We all know that Mbappe can become one of the best players in the world,” said defender Kamil Glik last week. "He is a young player, but he is doing some extraordinary things for a player his age.”

This week, all eyes will likely be on Mbappe once more as Monaco welcome Manchester City in the UEFA Champions League.

And Pep Guardiola won't be the only one gazing at a star who is shining brighter and brighter.
