Akwa United's Micheal Ibe has revealed that his team fought relentlessly at the UJ Esuene Stadium to secure a 0-0 draw against 10-man Enyimba on Sunday.
Following their return to winning ways in a 2-1 over Sunshine Stars, Abdu Maikaba's side hoped to build on their new winning mentality and bid arrest their poor away form in Calabar.
The Promise Keepers settled for a draw despite their numerical advantage against Paul Aigbogun's side as the highly anticipated Nigerian topflight encounter ended in a drab stalemate.
And Ibe described the result as fair for his team, while urging his mates to maintain the momentum ahead of their trip to Kano to face Kano Pillars on Wednesday.
"It was a tough match for us but I'm delighted with how we really fought hard to get a point," Ibe told Goal.
"We created a lot of chances but could not score them. We had a good game plan and great determination to pick the maximum points but that did not work out for us.
"We knew they [Enyimba] will give us a difficult game and desperate to win playing at home. Despite they got a red card, it was tough to beat them. In all, the draw was a fair result for us.
"I must admit that we really tried our best to win but the point we got was fine. We need to remain focus and keep fighting to get more points away in order to achieve our targets."
Following the draw, Akwa United are sixth with 27 points from 18 games and will be guest to third-placed Ibrahim Musa's men at the Sani Abacha Stadium during the week.
