AFC Leopards Team Manager Gilbert Selebwa has faulted injuries as the main reason why the team struggled especially in the second leg of the Kenyan Premier League.
At some point, Ingwe missed about eight key players and had to rely on the fringe ones who on most occasions were inconsistent. Speaking ahead of the game against Nzoia Sugar on Sunday, Selebwa has admitted the team is on the right direction and that next season will be even better.
"It is a good thing when the coach has the majority, if not all of his key players in league assignments. When we had our full squad, we were in position two and were doing good in the league, but things changed when injuries came knocking. It is not easy to play without your key six or eight players, it affects the team and that is what happened.
"The team has a better future for sure, and we believe that next season will even be better for us."
As it stands, the highest position Leopards can finish is third and is that subject to results posted by other opponents
