With just under 400 games for Huddersfield to his name, Andy Booth knows a thing or two about the club and admits Australian midfielder Aaron Mooy is one of the best players they've ever had.
Initially joining the Terriers on loan from Manchester City last season, Mooy was bought by the club after they achieved promotion to the Premier League and has stepped up seamlessly.
The 27-year-old missed just two league games for Huddersfield this season scoring four goals and assisting three as the club finished 16th.
While Mooy has only been at the club a fraction of the time Booth was, the English striker believes the Socceroo has quickly become one of their best.
“Ever since Aaron came to the club last season, I’d probably say he’s the best player we’ve ever had at the club,” Booth told Football Nation Radio.
“Great player, great guy and you could just tell as soon as he came in. His performances last year to get us promoted.
“Someone told me that out of the 22 games at home he was named man of the match 18 times. That’s the influence he had on the Championship and he just stepped up to the Premier League so easy.”
Playing in the centre of the park, Mooy has been a reliable cog in Huddersfield's midfield and has rarely missed games nor minutes with Booth in awe of his commitment to the club.
“I feel sorry for him because his workload is unbelievable obviously," Booth said.
"Last year he played 40 odd games in the Championship and every time we had an international break he’s flying back to Australia or he’s going to Singapore or Malaysia to play in away games.
"He said he’s got a week off before meeting with the Australian side, he’s just had non-stop football for two years but he’s been brilliant for the club. His performances on the pitch has been probably what’s kept us up."
