Yangon 3-0 Persibo: Kone’s hat-trick seals three points for hosts

The Myanmar National League side dominated the game and deservedly came out as winners against a valiant but understaffed Persibo
A hat-trick from Adama Kone sealed all three points for Yangon United in their AFC Cup opener as they beat Indonesian side Persibo Bojonegoro 3-0 at the Thuwanna YTC Stadium.

Persibo started the game with only one substitute due to issues with their travel documents. Paulo Camargo’s men played to catch United on the counter-attack, nearly opening scoring in the third minute when Rendy Saputra forced a save by keeper Zayar Tun.

But Ivan Venkov Kolev’s men replied eight minutes later when Kone whipped in a cross to Kyaw Kyaw who narrowly missed the chance.

The home team continued to push for a goal but the Persibo defence did well in stopping the assault and were pleased to go into half-time with a clean sheet.

At the restart, United pressed against a rock-solid Persibo back line. Pyae Phyo Aung made a blistering run down the left and crossed to Kyaw Ko Ko who headed well but Happy Kurniawan’s save was a beauty.

Just a few moments later, Kone broke the deadlock when he pounced on Michael Cvetkovski’s flick-on from Ko Ko’s corner to score a header from close range.

The goal spurred the Burmese side to third gear, and  Kone's second goal came on a similar header shortly after the hour. A visibly exhausted Persibo showed little fight after conceding the second, and the Ivorian journeyman completed the hat-trick with a 30-yard left-footed strike that befuddled the goalkeeper.
