Despite earlier media reports saying that former Felda United and Negeri Sembilan striker Francis 'Forkey' Doe has rejoined Selangor for the 2017 season, it was revealed that he is still a trialist for the Red Giants.

The Liberian however is positive of his chances of landing a contract with the Red Giants, and what he could do for them should that happen. However, first things first, the 31-year old admitted himself that he needs to work on his fitness, after coming back from the off-season break.

"Today is nothing, I'm not fit. I've been out of shape for one month now.

"Today is (just) my third day in training, just getting back. So today is nothing," said Doe following his team's pre-season friendly against PDRM on Friday, while adding that he needs two more weeks to get back to full fitness.

He is nevertheless positive about what he could do Selangor, should he be signed.

After all, Doe has played for them in 2013, and when asked by Goal whether he could improve on his performance, he replied in the affirmative, provided the team can work together well.

"If we can work together, then we can become a successful team. We're going to work hard, and win some championships," he vowed.

However when asked whether Selangor fans can expect the same level of performance from him as what he put out in 2016 for the Fighters, the forward was hesitant to make such a lofty promise.

In 2016, he helped the Fighters emerge runners up in the Super League and qualify for AFC Cup for the first time ever with his 23 goal-tally, but left the side following Irfan's departure from the Jengka-based side.

"I can't say yes (to playing at the same level), because playing with Felda then coming to Selangor will involve new players, so it takes time, the chemistry has to be there, and (only then) we can get good results. I'm positive (about his performance)," responded Doe.

Selangor won the PDRM friendly 2-1, with Doe scoring one goal in the match, a penalty towards the end of the first half.
