The Red Giants have announced the signing of two foreign players for the 2017 Super League season, two faces already familiar to the crowd.
According to Selangor's Instagram account, Liberian striker Francis 'Forkey' Doe will return to Selangor, after having spent a season with them in 2013. Doe joined Kelantan and Negeri Sembilan following his departure, before joining former Selangor head coach Irfan Bakti Abdul Salim at Felda United for the 2016 season.
The 31-year old helped the Fighters emerge runners up in the Super League and qualify for AFC Cup for the first time ever with his 23 goal-tally in 2016, but left the side following Irfan's departure from the Jengka-based side.
Interestingly, the last time Selangor and Felda met, in a Super League match on 26 July 2016, the match was won by the Fighters with a 2-1 scoreline, with the Liberian scoring both of Felda's goals in the match.
Another 'returning' player is centre back Ugo Ukah, whose 2016 contract with the Red Giants had ended earlier. He had joined them in the 2016 June transfer window as a mid-season replacement for Australian Robert Cornthwaite.
Although his performance (and Selangor's) in the league was underwhelming, the Nigerian defender emerged as one of his side's best performers in the Malaysia Cup, to help Selangor reach the final for the second consecutive year.
With the two signings, the Red Giants now tentatively have one more foreign player slot to be filled. PKNS FC loanee Patrick Wleh has returned to the recently-promoted side, while Indonesia star Andik Vermansah has stated his desire to see out the one year left in his contract.
