TRANSFER ROUND-UP: Gopinathan joins Hazwan at JDT

JDT continues to enhance their squad ahead of the important Asian Champions League qualifier against Bangkok United with the signing of R. Gopinathan from Selangor. The winger is the latest in a stream of players moving away from troubled Selangor and he joins team-mate Hazwan Bakri is moving to the reigning Super League champions.

The 27-year-old is regarded by many as one of the best wingers in the country but has fallen on the wayside since his move from Pahang to Selangor. A poor season culminated in him missing out on the 2016 AFF Suzuki Cup action. Gopinathan will surely be hoping that his new club will be able to put his career back on the right path.


Kedah continues effort to fill the remaining foreigner spot with trials for Ken Ilso and Thiago Quirino. Having already secured the contracts for Liridon Krasniqi and Sandro Da Silva, coach Tan Cheng Hoe is still on the look-out for players to strengthen his squad.

Ken Ilso comes with a big reputation having played in the Bundesliga and Chinese Super League prior to joining Singapore's Home United last season. The 30-year-old forward played in the German top tier with Fortuna Dusseldorf.

As for Thiago Quirino, the Brazilian spent the last five seasons win Japan with Shonan Bellmare intersected with loan spells throughout his time there. The 31-year-old forward has also played before in the Swedish league with Djurgardens IF and was once part of the Brazil U-20 squad.
