Penang are reportedly preparing to offer former Bengaluru FC league winning head coach, Ashley Westwood, the head coach role at the Super League side ahead of the 2017 season.

Goal understands from a credible source, that Penang are pulling out all the stops to ensure that they get the service of the 40-year-old English coach. The source also informed that that two important meetings with Westwood has been held, once outside of Malaysia and once in Penang.

Westwood has apparently been given a tour of the team's facilities as well as to meet up with the management to discuss terms. It looks like Westwood himself is interested to take up the role having turned down good offers in Europe and Asia that include the technical director role at Hong Kong club, Kitchee that entails helping them to qualify for the Asian Champions League.

Should Westwood take up the role, he would bring a wealth of experience with him, having guided Bengaluru to back-to-back league title in India. He will be quite aware of the Malaysian league, having faced Johor Darul Ta'zim in the AFC Cup before.

What do you think Penang fans? Would this be a good appointment for your favourite team?
