Melaka United Sports Associations (MUSA) has confirmed that they are set to retain 10 of their current players for next season’s challenge in the Super League. According to its vice president, Datuk Wira Mohd Yusoff Hj Mahadi, the 10 players received new contract offers after good performances this season, and they believed that they are capable of playing in the Super League next season.

Some of the names that Melaka United intend to keep for next season are R. Surendran, Mohd Ferris Danial, Nurshamil Abd Ghani, Khuzaimie Piee, goalkeeper Ahmad Solehin Mamat and their top scorer for 2016, Ilija Spasojevic.

“These 10 players are the names that we want to keep for next season, and we have made the decision after we believe they can carry the responsibility of challenging and playing in the Super League next season.”

Yusoff also confirmed that they are still considering the position of five to six players, on whether to offer new contract for them or not.

“There are still five to six players that we would ask the new coach to re-evaluate them, and see whether they are good enough to play in the Super League or not.”

Melaka United earn a promotion to the Super League after winning the Premier League this season, collecting 50 points from 15 wins and 5 draws.

The team are already preparing for the new season, by not renewing their current coach’s contract, Mat Zan Mat Aris and planning to bring import coach to lead the squad.

MUSA reportedly have three head coaches in their shortlist, one from Brazil, one from England and one from Australia.
