With the 2016 season over for almost all Super League and Premier League sides, early player departures have been announced by several clubs and the players themselves.
After reportedly not extending the head coach that took them to 2015 FAM League and 2016 Premier League titles and promotion to the 2017 Super League; Mat Zan Mat Aris, the Mousedeers on Wednesday announced that they will not be retaining the services of two of their foreign players; midfielder Labinot Harbuzi and defender Alex Tudose. Harbuzi had joined the club at the start of the 2016 season, while Tudose had joined in the 2016 June transfer window.
The Melaka board are reportedly in the midst of discussions with the rest of their players and staff, to determine who will be retained for their return to the Super League next season.
Late Tuesday evening, English midfielder Alex Smith announced through his social media that he will be leaving the Deers. The 30-year old had joined Negeri at the start of the 2016 season, and has collected six goals for them in the league. His departure means that the Premier League side are left with only one foreign player on their roster, French striker Goran Jerkovic. In the past two months, Australian winger Henrique Andrade Silva and defender Taylor Regan have departed the club, despite the fact that the season had not yet ended.
My time at Negeri has come to an end. Thanks to all the fans who showed us great support throughout the year. Onto the next chapter... pic.twitter.com/j4RahaOXNq— Alex Smith (@al_smith) October 25, 2016
