Frank Bernhardt’s Malaysia U-22 squad are set to play the Brunei national team in two friendly matches early next month.

According to the Football Association of Malaysia’s (FAM) website, the matches will take place on 6th and 8th October, but they are yet to confirm the venue.

Bernhardt has called up 23 players for the friendly matches for centralised training starting this Sunday, with three new faces from Malaysia U-19 squad, that participated in the AFF U19 Championship recently, getting their first call-ups to the Malaysia U-22 team.

The new faces from Malaysia U-19 who earned their spot in the Young Tigers are centre-back Aqil Irfanuddin, winger Zarulizwan Mazlan (T-Team) and midfielder Danial Ashraf (Kelantan).

The 47-year-old coach has also retained 20 from the 30-player squad that took part in the two friendly matches against Bahrain early this month.

In their recent friendly matches, Malaysia took on Bahrain U-22 twice whereby they drew 0-0 in the first game at Shah Alam Stadium, before falling to a 2-1 defeat two days later at the UiTM Mini Stadium.

Here are the 23 players who will join the centralised training for the friendly games against Brunei:
