Head coach of Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT), Mario Gomez expressed his happiness after his team defeated T-Team 5-1 and finally get to lift the Super League trophy that they have won earlier.
JDT claimed their third Super League title in a row when they defeated Terengganu earlier this month but only lifted the trophy last night in front of their own fans at Larkin Stadium.
According to Mario Gomez, he is happy with what they have achieved this season and the win is important for his life.
Speaking after the game, Gomez said “I’m very happy for my players, very happy for the fans and very happy for the club.”
“This is our third title in three seasons and it is very important for JDT to win the Super League. It is very important in my life.”
Despite making several changes in his lineup, JDT still turned on the style and defeated T-Team 5-1 and Mario Gomez insisted that they will now switch on their focus to the AFC Cup challenge.
“Every time we play, our target is to win. Yes, tonight we celebrate the win, the achievement we made in the Super League but tomorrow we will focus on the next game.”
JDT made history once again after they have become the first team to win the Super League three times in a row.
They are also still in contention to defend their AFC Cup trophy, as they will face India’s Bengaluru FC in the semi-final.
