Perlis who in their last match thumped ATM 6-1, were brought down to earth by UiTM FC at home, at the Tuanku Syed Putra Stadium. Pavel Purishkin's 27th minute goal was the only thing that separated the college boys from the Northern Lions. Purishkin's goal in the match was his fourth in two matches, and helped UiTM win their second consecutive MPL match.
In Tanjung Malim, the Great Bees's high-flying start to the season also came crashing down. They could not produce the same performance that helped them beat JDT II last week, and they were beaten 3-1 at home by Negeri Sembilan. The home team looked set to notch another upset after Ivan Babic found the back of the net in the 20th minute, but a handball in the 80th minute changed the match completely. Andrew Nabbout scored the penalty kick, before Joel Chianese and Alex Smith added Negeri's second and third before the match ended.

Melaka United found their first win of the season, defeating PKNS FC 2-1 at home. In the 50th minute, PKNS' Juan Manuel Cobelli cancelled R.Surendran's 22nd minute opener, but supersub Nurshamil Ghani emerged as his side's hero once again, scoring the winning goal in the 74th minute. Last Friday, the 21-year-old striker had scored the Mousedeers' last-gasp equaliser against Sime Darby FC.
Meanwhile for the Red Ants, this is their second consecutive defeat in the league.
Kuantan FA too notched their first win, thumping Sabah 4-1 at home. The visitors opened the scoring in the minute through Maxius Musa's 37th minute header, but the home team dominated in the later stage of the match, resulting in four goals by Dao Bakary (65', 89'), Malik Mat Ariff (82') and Abdul Wafiy (87').
This is the Rhinos' second straight defeat, after they had lost to UiTM by the same scoreline in matchday 1.
The only round 2 MPL match to be played on Tuesday, ended in a 3-0 Sime Darby FC win over ATM. The goals were scored by Syed Sobri (55'), Faizal Abdul Aziz (57') and Mateo Roskam (85'). This is also a second straight defeat for the Gladiators, which have conceded nine goals in the league.
After Matchday 2, the MPL standings are as follows; UiTM, KL (6 points), Kuantan, Sime Darby, Negeri, Melaka (4), Perlis, DRB-Hicom (3), PKNS, JDT II, Sabah and ATM.
On Matchday 3 on Friday February 26, UiTM will take on Kuantan, Sabah will host DRB-Hicom, Sime Darby will face Perlis, PKNS will play ATM, JDT II will face Melaka, and Negeri will host KL.
All kick off at 9 pm except for UiTM's match, which will begin at 4.45 pm.
