According to a fan website run by Pahang fans TokGajah.com, the Elephants have revealed the signing of 20-year old Matthew Davies from A-League side Perth Glory.
Interestingly, the youngster has been signed as a local player as opposed to as a foreign one, as his mother is a Sabahan which means he is also eligible to play for the Malaysia national team.
The winger trained as a teenager at the then Australian Institute of Sport Football Program, before moving on to the Perth youth team. He then made his senior team debut for them in 2013.
The report adds that his signing is part of the Pahang FA's move to rejuvenate the team, as many of their key players are already ageing.
Davies now joins the rank of several formerly foreign-based players who become eligible to play as local players in the Malaysian domestic league by virtue of their parentage and have chosen to do so, such as Kelantan's Brendan Gan and JDT's Junior Eldstal.
