Gary Steven Robbat, 22, has been in the news recently after a contract dispute that saw three clubs stake their claim for the former Harimau Muda A midfielder. He signed a contract with two of those clubs, Pahang and JDT, before joining the latter on their pre-season tour in Australia.
Consequently, FAM fined him RM50,000 and slapped a three month long ban on him as punishment, which suspends him from any football-related activity for that period of time.
Today, it was announced on JDT’s official Facebook page that Gary will spend the entire duration of his suspension in Germany, where he will train with Borussia Dortmund. This is due to a recent partnership between the German giants and the current Malaysia Super League champions, which is headlined by the promise of a July friendly between the two sides in Johor.
Surprisingly, Dortmund currently lie second-from-bottom in the Bundesliga (level on points with bottom side Freiburg, but ahead on goal difference), but the experience of training alongside their stable of stars such as Marco Reus, Ilkay Gundogan, and Shinji Kagawa should do Gary a world of good.
