A shock decision has been made by Perak FA as they have announced that Datuk M Karathu is to be the new head coach of Perak, replacing Vjeran Simunic.
Simunic, who was hired only two months ago, reportedly went missing from the team for the past two weeks.
Since then, Karathu has been spotted at many of Perak’s training sessions, which have been handled by assistant head coach Abu Bakar Fadzim.
The President of Perak FA, Datuk Zainol Fadzi, finally answered speculation as they have officially announced Karathu’s appointment as Perak’s new boss.
According To Harian Metro, Zainol said “For the sake of the team, Perak FA had to take action after we received reports from players, team officials and certain individuals. There’s no positive development in the team and his achievements in (the) Golden Cup recently also played a role.
“We (have) never failed to advance to at least the quarter-final for the competition but unfortunately under his regime, we failed at the group stage. We can’t accept his excuse for not playing our main players as well.”
However, Zainol explained that Simunic will still have a role in the Perak team, as he still under contract with the FA until October.
Meanwhile, commeting on the appointment of Karathu, Zainol said the appointment was made after discussions with Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir.
