According to reports in Kota Bharu, current head coach George Boateng will leave The Red Warriors after they were knocked out of the 2014 Malaysia Cup.

Despite leading Kedah 3-1 after the first leg, George Boateng’s men lost 3-0 in the second leg, which saw them crash out of the tournament 4-3 on aggregate.

Quoting from Astro Arena, Boateng apologized to the fans and explained that he understood how the fans felt after the defeat.

“Nobody likes being eliminated. I understand the disappointment that Kelantan fans felt, and I felt the same way too. I am sorry.

“We didn’t play defensively in the game, and we worked hard to score more goals. Kedah also got lucky. They scored the first goal at a time where I thought the first half would end 0-0,” added Boateng.

Kelantan finished this season trophyless after winning the treble two years ago.

Kelantan, who got to the Malaysia Cup finals last year, were one of two Super League clubs that got knocked out of the tournament by Premier League clubs, with Selangor also out after losing to Felda United.
