Mohd Badhri Radzi, Kelantan’s captain marvel, has said that the presence of veteran players in the Harimau Malaya squad to face Indonesia on the 14th September will be beneficial.

Piya said that Dollah Salleh made the right choice by selecting some of the senior players, despite being heavily criticised by football analysts.

Speaking to Sinar Harian, Piya said “for me, it is really good for the national team because we need the veteran players. There is nothing wrong with choosing veteran players. Before this it was only me and Amri Yahyah, but now we have three more players joining the squad.”

Dollah sprung a surprise when he called up veterans from Felda United, Shukor Adan and Indra Putra Mahyudin, as well as Azizon Abd Kadir from PDRM.

Piya believes that this action taken from Dollah Salleh should be seen as a positive, and he believes that experience can be the key to make a well-balanced team.

Piya also said he needs to work hard in order to get the starting spot, as he must compete with Ezri Shafiziee, Gopinathan and Safiq Rahim.

He also commented that he is determined to do better after being trusted by Dollah Salleh to play in the defeat against Tajikistan last August.
