Former Harimau Malaya head coach Datuk K. Rajagopal is one of the six candidates shortlisted for the vacant Vietnam national team post, Goal understands.
According to the source of Vietnam news portal Thanh Nien, Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) have placed Rajagopal and former France skipper, Marcel Desailly among the names tipped for the hot seat.
The other four unnamed candidates are from Japan, Scotland, Spain and Belgium. However, it is understood that the final decision will only be made in early May.
Rajagopal has been previously linked to the Kelantan coaching post prior to the appointment of former Dutch international George Boateng. The 57-year-old tactician is no stranger to Southeast Asian football and boasts an impressive CV which include the 2009 SEA Games gold and leading Harimau Malaya to the 2010 AFF Suzuki Cup victory.
Desailly on the other hand, has expressed his interest to take the Malaysia national team reins in February.
