Terengganu, who were knocked out by eventual champions and arch-rivals Kelantan 6-5 on aggregate last season, are targeting to make it all the way to the FA Cup final this year.
According to Bernama, coach Abdul Rahman Ibrahim said “We want to do better than (the) semi-final last year and we want to bring the trophy home, as targeted by our management earlier this season.”
The Turtles made a terrific start for the competition, beating Pahang club side Shahzan Muda 4-0 at the Sultan Ismail Nasiruddin Shah Stadium.
Terengganu will now go onto face Selangor PKNS FC in round two, a side that they beat 2-1 in their first game of the Malaysia Super League last weekend.
Commenting on the performance of his players, Abdul Rahman believed they could have won with an even bigger margin if the players were more focused.
“Our big problem is when we underestimate the opponents, our performance drops,” he added.
Terengganu have made a bright start to the season with two wins, and they will face Perak next in the second game of the Malaysia Super League this Saturday, with Abdul Rahman surely hoping his boys can keep the winning momentum going.
