Kelantan and Johor Darul Takzim get byes in 2014 FA Cup

Pahang and Perak are set to face each other in the first round of the 2014 Malaysia FA Cup while JDT II will clash with Super League team PKNS FC.

The 2014 Malaysia FA Cup has some mouth-watering clashes already awaiting football fans in the first round of the tournament.

Beginning January 21 next year, the biggest clash of the round will be between the 2013 Malaysia Cup winners Pahang and two-time FA Cup winners Perak.

The Elephants would certainly want to improve their performance in the tournament after crashing out in the semi finals in a defeat to Johor Darul Takzim.

Another fixture that surely will get people’s attention will be last year's FA Cup semi finalists Sime Darby FC versus Malaysian Super League (MSL) powerhouse ATM, and the MSL's newcomer would surely want to make a point early on in the competition against the Gladiators.

This year’s champions, Kelantan, together with runners-up, Johor Darul Takzim, will only play in the second round as they both received a ‘bye’ for the first round of the FA Cup.

The Red Warriors will face the winner of the Pahang Kuantan FA-Sabah match while JDT awaits the winner when UiTM FC and T-Team go head to head.

Another team from Johor, JDT II, will face a stern test against PKNS FC.

The 2014 FA Cup will use the same rules and regulations as last year, which sees only the semifinals and quarterfinals of the tournament have two legs.
