Croatian Tot takes over as Kedah’s new head coach

Kedah have parted ways with Wan Jamak Wan Hassan and replaced him with Croatian Mario Tot for their Malaysia Cup challenge

Kedah have confirmed the hiring of Mario Tot to replace Wan Jamak Wan Hassan as their new head coach.

The secretary of Football Association of Kedah (KFA), Datuk Hamdan Mohd Khalib, told journalists in Alor Setar yesterday that they had parted ways with Wan Jamak in an amicable manner.

“We offered Wan Jamak another post with the Kedah FA but he opted to take a break from the game,” said Hamdan.

Tot, a former Croatian division one coach, has signed a one-year contract after arriving in Kedah’s capital city on Monday for negotiations. His immediate task now is to get Kedah through their difficult Malaysia Cup group.

Former winners Kedah are in Group B with Malaysian Super League (MSL) champions Kelantan, Malaysian Premier League (MPL) winners ATM and dark horses Terengganu.

Kedah’s management decided to ring the changes and bring in Tot following their relegation to the MPL. ‘The Canaries’ finished 12th in the MSL and Wan Jamak’s fate was sealed when they lost to Pahang in the play-off final.
