The “Manchester City” of Malaysian football, Armed Forces are set to make history come this Friday.
Armed Forces or the Gladiators as they are affectionately known to their fans, need a win over Muar Municipal Council which will see them crowned as Premier League champions and secure promotion to the Malaysian Super League next season.
Should everything go as planned, the Premier League title will be the first major title in their history. Their only notable success to date came in the FAM Cup back in the year 1997.
Coached by former national team boss B. Sathianathan, Armed Forces surprised many as they flexed their financial muscles to sign established players such as brothers; Aidil Zafuan and Zaquan Adha and also team skipper, Hairuddin Omar.
A win over Muar Municipal Council will see them hold an impregnable point lead over nearest rivals and the fallen giants of Malaysian football, Pahang who is currently trailing by five points.
