The final match in the Malayan Tigers' tour of Oceania, a friendly against the 186th-ranked Fiji at the Prince Charles Park, Nadi, ended in a 1-1 draw.
Malaysia head coach Datuk Ong Kim Swee made several changes to the starting lineup for this match, with Khairul Fahmi Che Mat taking over goalkeeping duties from Izham Tarmizi, S. Chanturu starting in place of right wing Azrif Nasrulhaq who was suspended, Christie Jayaseelan for the injured Zaquan Adha on the opposite wing, Junior Eldstal for Baddrol Bakhtiar in midfield, and evergreen striker Amri Yahyah taking over Hazwan Bakri's place up front.
The decision to start with Amri worked, as he opened the scoring four minutes from the halftime whistle.
However the hosts managed to level the score in the 72nd minute, through Wellington Phoenix striker Roy Krishna, and the 1-1 scoreline stayed until the final whistle.
The draw wraps up Malaysia's tour in the region, which was organised to help Ong find the best lineup in preparation for the 2016 AFF Cup. They lost their first match of the tour to Papua New Guinea with a 2-0 scoreline, but bounced back by beating New Caledonia 2-1 in the second match. The team will now be heading back to Malaysia.
Now almost halfway through 2016, the Tigers have won three, drawn three and lost two of their official matches this year.
