Wan Zaharulnizam suspended for five matches by FAM

The midfielder was found guilty after he was sent off for an off-the-ball incident, during Kelantan's 5-2 trashing at the hands of Selangor in a Super League match on May 21.

Kelantan midfielder Wan Zaharulnizam Wan Zakaria has been suspended for five matches by the Malaysian FA (FAM), following his sending off in his team's league match against Selangor at home on May 21.

The decision was made by FAM's disciplinary committee in a meeting on June 9, and was announced in a press statement on Saturday.

The committee found him guilty under Article 50.1 (d) of the 2015 FAM Code of Conduct regarding offences against opponents or individuals apart from match officials, together with Article 18.4 regarding expulsion from a match.

The 25 year old player will be out of Kelantan's league matches against Terengganu (July 15), Pahang (July 23), Johor Darul Ta’zim (July 26), Felda United (August 3) and T-Team (August 6).

He was also fined RM2,000 by FAM for the offence, and given a stern warning to not repeat the same behaviour.

In the match against Selangor which Kelantan lost 5-2, Zaharulnizam was shown a straight red card for an off-the-ball incident with Selangor midfielder, Nazmi Faiz Mansor.
