Malaysia Premier League (MPL) side Melaka United have signed another mixed-heritage Malaysian, obtaining the service of New Zealander-Malaysian Khair Jones. The 26-year old winger previously played for Hawke’s Bay United and YH Manawatu, having been first noticed by Malaysian media in 2015. He was born in Seremban, Negeri Sembilan to a Malaysian mother and a New Zealander father, and left for New Zealand with them when he was two years old.
The Titans meanwhile made a last minute signing, by bringing in Brazilian forward Patrick Dos Santos Cruz. The 22 year old forward previously played for Indonesia's Mitra Kukar, and the club stated on its social media that Cruz is a replacement for Croatian Tomislav Bušić, whose contract is almost ending. Although he was immediately entrusted by head coach Rahmad Darmawan to lead the Titans' attack in the side's previous two matches, against JDT on Tuesday and against Pahang on Friday, he has yet to score for his new team.
The Fighters have found their last-minute replacement for the injured Thiago Silva in former Kelantan and Selangor forward, Francis 'Forkey' Doe. The signing meant that the Liberian player has rejoined head coach Irfan Bakti, who coached him at Selangor in 2013. Doe made immediate impact following his signing, scoring the winning goal as a substitution in his team's 2-1 away win over Sarawak on Tuesday.
