Commentary

Thanks for joining our commentary this evening. Until next time, goodbye.
Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid play out a goalless draw in the Madrid derby. The result suits Diego Simeone's men a lot more than the home side. Julen Lopetegui's team fail to score for the second game on the bounce as Marco Asensio and Gareth Bale both missed good opportunities. Antoine Griezmann and Diego Costa could have put Atleti ahead in the first half, but were guilty of poor finishing themselves. However, Atletico become the first side since Valencia in the 1940s to go six matches unbeaten in a row at the Bernabeu. Bale was forced off at half-time with an injury and if that proves to be serious, Madrid could be in trouble as Karim Benzema continues to misfire up front.
90' + 4' FULL-TIME: REAL MADRID 0-0 ATLETICO MADRID
90' + 3' WIDE! Varane makes a run and leaps to make contact with Kroos' delivery, but he can only nod his effort harmlessly wide of the post.

N. Kalinić

Atlético Madrid
85' Simeone takes a gamble by introducing Kalinic for Rodrigo. He's going for the win.
83' A mistake by Godin leads to a corner for the home side after his defensive partner Gimenez covers for his error. From the set-piece, Kroos goes for his wonderstrike in a similar position to his World Cup heroics for Germany, but on this occasion he's not successful as Oblak makes a comfortable stop.

76' Koke has Griezmann in space on the right flank if he can pick him out. However, the midfielder's offload is poor and Ramos makes the interception. Madrid are piling on the pressure and the visitors are struggling to stem the tide.
75' Nacho breaks with menace into the left inside channel and he searches for Benzema in the middle with a low cross, only to be denied by a good low challenge by Gimenez on the slide.
73' Godin commits a huge error to be dispossessed by Asensio, who has acres of space to run into. The Spaniard only needs to complete his offload for Benzema to have a clean opening at goal, but Gimenez gets across to make the vital challenge, preventing the pass.
72' Atletico move the ball with patience in the final third, but Filipe Luis' cross is cleared ahead of Griezmann by Ramos. The Madrid skipper had to make that clearance at the near post.
Koke
Yellow Card
Atlético Madrid
70' The battle between Koke and Carvajal has been brewing over the course of the contest. Koke brings down the full-back on the charge and goes into the book.
T. Partey

T. Lemar
Yellow Card
Atlético Madrid
59' Lemar is booked for the visitors for his late lunge.
58' Ceballos goes on a surge towards the edge of the Atletico box before being brought down by Lemar. Madrid have a shooting opportunity from the free-kick.
56' Ceballos and Asensio attempt to combine down the left, but Juanfran and Gimenez combine to close down the latter before he can turn in the box.
55' Kroos is unable to threaten from the set-piece, allowing the visitors to clear the danger. Madrid have not been clinical enough in the final third.

46' We're back underway at the Bernabeu.
Dani Ceballos
G. Bale
Real Madrid
46' A stunner from Lopetegui at the break as he withdraws Bale for Ceballos. A strange decision unless the Welshman is carrying an injury.
Diego Simeone will be the happier of the two managers in the context of the game, although he will feel that matters could been even better for his team. Julen Lopetegui may have a tinge of concern that his team have struggled to open up their rivals, while they've looked troubled at times on the break. A crucial second half awaits at the Bernabeu.
It's goalless at the break in the Madrid derby at the Bernabeu. Atletico will head into the break feeling that they should be ahead as Antoine Griezmann and Diego Costa both missed one-on-one opportunities against Thibaut Courtois. Gareth Bale guided an effort inches wide of the post for Madrid, who have been frustrated in the final third for the majority of the first period.
45' + 1' HALF-TIME: REAL MADRID 0-0 ATLETICO MADRID
45' There will be one minute of added time

Daniel Carvajal

21' CLOSE! Madrid are inches away from the lead. Kroos lifts his free-kick to the back post for the run of Bale. The Welshman drifts off the back of Filipe Luis to guide his effort towards the bottom corner. However, it trickles inches past the post with Oblak beaten. A let-off for the visitors.
20' Benzema is tripped in the final third by Rodrigo and it allows Madrid to throw men forward into the box. Kroos will take the free-kick.

8' Asensio and Modric combine to allow the former to send a cross into the box. However, the Spaniard's delivery is poor and cleared by the first Atletico defender.
6' The visitors are trying to unsettle Madrid to knock them out of a rhythm. An early intensity has been set in the derby.

1' We're underway at the Bernabeu.
Only one team in La Liga history has gone six unbeaten away games in a row against Real Madrid and it was 70 years ago (Valencia, six between 1942 and 1948).
Real Madrid are winless in their last five La Liga games against Atletico de Madrid at Santiago Bernabeu (drawn two, lost three), their worst ever run without a win at home against them in the competition.
Simeone has made two changes to his team that beat Huesca during the week. Rodrigo and Saul are favoured ahead of Correa and Partey in the midfield, sending both players down the bench. Filipe Luis is preferred ahead of Lucas Hernandez.
Madrid have made one change to their side that was beaten by Sevilla during the week. Marcelo misses out due to injury and is replaced by Carvajal. Nacho slides over to the left-back position. Isco remains sidelined after suffering appendicitis, leaving Asensio to partner Bale and Benzema in the final third.
Atletico Madrid subs: Antonio Adan, Santiago Arias, Thomas Partey, Nikola Kalinic, Angel Correa, Lucas Hernandez, Vitolo.
ATLETICO MADRID (4-4-2): Jan Oblak; Juanfran, Jose Gimenez, Diego Godin, Filipe Luis; Koke, Rodrigo, Saul Niguez, Thomas Lemar; Diego Costa, Antoine Griezmann.
Real Madrid subs: Keylor Navas, Mariano Diaz, Lucas Vazquez, Marcos Llorente, Sergio Reguilon, Dani Ceballos, Vinicius Junior.
REAL MADRID (4-3-3): Thibaut Courtois; Dani Carvajal, Sergio Ramos, Raphael Varane, Nacho Fernandez; Toni Kroos, Casemiro, Luka Modric; Gareth Bale, Karim Benzmea, Marco Asensio.
Let's look at the two teams this evening, starting with the home side.
Atletico have responded from their stuttering start to the season. Diego Simeone's men dropped points against Celta Vigo and Eibar earlier in the campaign, but have produced back-to-back wins in the league over Getafe and Huesca to move back into third place. Simeone will be eyeing a statement performance against his side's rivals to get the edge over his new adversary in the Madrid dugout.
It has been a strange start to the season for the elite teams in LaLiga. Madrid themselves slumped to a heavy 3-0 defeat on the road during the week against Sevilla. It was their first loss in the league under Julen Lopetegui, who saw his side taken apart in the first half as Andre Silva netted a brace along with a strike from Wissam Ben Yedder. Lopetegui will be looking for a reponse from his team tonight.
Both teams have an opportunity this evening as Barcelona dropped another two points today, drawing against Athletic Bilbao. Real Madrid could leapfrog the Catalan club with a victory, while Atletico could join them level on points with a triumph over their rivals.
Good evening and welcome to the live commentary of the Madrid derby between Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid at the Bernabeu.
