Khama Billiat - Kaizer Chiefs
The Zimbabwean scored fewer goals in the league for Kaizer Chiefs last season he would have wanted, although he ended up with 14 across all competitions.
And he will want to step up his game and contribute more to the club's limping frontline by converting the chances his teammates create in the final third.
Chiefs have signed no less than two new strikers in Samir Nurkovic and Lazarous Kambole, but the responsibility for goals will continue to rest on the shoulders of more experienced players such as Billiat and Leonardo Castro.
Rodney Ramagalela - Highlands Park
However, he remains one of the best strikers in the country and despite his potential lack of match fitness, he will be expected to take over from Mothobi Mvala, who scored eight league goals for the Lions of the North last season, and ensure that more goalscoring chances get buried.
What makes 'RamaG' one of the contenders is his ability to score from tight spaces and experience having scored at Mamelodi Sundowns, Black Leopards, Golden Arrows and Polokwane City. He was the league's joint-top goalscorer two seasons ago.
Augustine Mulenga - Orlando Pirates
Augustine Mulenga was nowhere to be seen in the top goalscoring charts last season simply because of his lack of regular game time at Orlando Pirates.
However, he is expected to be handed a bigger role to play alongside Justine Shonga, especially after their combination handed them a 2-0 win over Kaizer Chiefs in the Carling Black Label Cup.
The Zambian attacker was played more as a winger than as a target man, but there's hope that he will move into his natural position as Pirates attempt to end their trophy drought in the new season.
Lebohang Maboe - Mamelodi Sundowns
Maboe is a natural attacking midfielder, but he has done well as a false 9 since joining Mamelodi Sundowns at the start of last season.
In his new role, Maboe had to adapt quickly, and he has embraced playing upfront. It is for this reason he ended up scoring eight times in the league for the Brazilians.
It wouldn't be wise for Mosimane to deny him the opportunity to shine in that position as the player appears to enjoy banging in the goals without any pressure.
Mwape Musonda - Black Leopards
There are reports that he may leave Lidoda Duvha for Europe, but as things stand, he remains their player and if he stays, he is most certainly set to continue where he left off last season.
Whether or not he goes, Musonda will remain a threat to many PSL teams, especially if he moves to a bigger club in the new season.
