Goal's A-League Team of the Week: Victory's stars shine

These players stood out in Round 4

Heading into the international break, a number of players gave it their all in Round 4 as they made the difference for their A-League sides.

From a Melbourne Victory trio in top form, to a Perth Glory striker that can't stop scoring, there were some impressive individual performances over the weekend.

Here's Goal's Team of the Week for Round 4...Who's in yours?

  1. Filip Kurto

The Polish keeper may have been on the losing side on Friday night, but if it wasn't for him the 2-0 scoreline would have been a lot worse. Made a round-high five saves which saw him brilliantly deny Bruno Fornaroli one-on-one.
  2. Ritchie De Laet

He might be playing as a right back, but the Aston Villa loanee has quickly shown his abilities in the final third. A long-range strike against the Nix setting his side up for a comfortable win. Though catching the eye in attack, De Laet is still doing his job in defence making three interceptions and eight recoveries on Friday.
  3. Alex Grant

Played a huge part in nullifying what's been a red-hot Adelaide attack. Made a game-high seven clearances and three interceptions.
  4. Jop van der Linden

Have you ever seen a centre-back look so comfortable on the ball? The Dutch defender is all class at the back for Sydney FC and stood out against the Jets making three blocks and three interceptions while providing excellent service moving forward.
  5. Corey Brown

A very fine finish from the left-back against the Mariners which all but sealed the contest. Is getting more comfortable since making the move to Melbourne and was rock solid on Sunday making three timely tackles to go with his goal.
  6. Alex Lopez

The Roar midfielder's exquisite strike gave Brisbane a lifeline against the Wanderers and it was one that saw his side salvage a point in Mudgee. Lopez created two chances and completed a game-high 53 passes in an eye-catching performance.
  7. Keisuke Honda

After a one-week absence, Honda is back in our team of the week having sparked Victory into action against the Mariners. An utterly ruthless strike from the Japanese star opened the scoring and he remained at the heartbeat of a Victory side starting to gel.
  8. James Troisi

Has been performing strongly all season, but Troisi hit another gear on Sunday as he bagged a goal and generally ran riot attempting a game-high five shots. Created a number of chances for his side too as the fringe Socceroo reminded Graham Arnold what he's capable of in full flight.
  9. Lachlan Wales

The Melbourne City young gun asked some serious questions of the Nix defence as he picked up an assist and created three chances overall. One to keep an eye on this season as he looks to sharpen his skills under Warren Joyce.
  10. Andy Keogh

Four games and four goals for the Perth Glory striker, who is really embracing life under Tony Popovic. While his goal against the Reds was a pretty simple finish, the Irishman's overall performance was impressive and he should have had an assist too after a delightful piece of play fed Joel Chianese clean through on goal in the first-half.
  11. Oriol Riera

The Spanish striker probably should have had a first-half hat-trick against Brisbane which would have sealed the game, but instead had to settle for a clinical double which ultimately allowed Roar back into the game. A player that looks like he'll really thrive in Markus Babbel's preferred formation.
