Alma Wakili was on parade as 10-man FK Trakai progressed to the next stage of the Uefa Europa League qualifiers after seeing off St. Johnstone 1-0 in the second leg of the competition's qualifying first round on Thursday evening.
The Knights had secured a shock away 2-1 victory over the Saints at the McDiarmid Park last week and needed at least a draw to move closer to their dreams of featuring in Europe’s second-tier competition for the first time in their history.
Maksim Maksimov's late strike was enough for Oleg Vasilenko’s men who had to play the majority of the second half a man less after Arunas Klimavicius picked a second yellow card in the 57th minute.
The 20-year-old former Eupen left-back and Liberian teenage prospect, Oscar Dorley saw the whole action out at the LFF Stadium. Ivorian striker, Lajo Traore was thrown in the mix in the 90th minute in place of goalscorer, Maksimov.
Wakili and Co. will now have to battle Swedish outfit, Norrkoping in the second round of Europa League qualifying as they continue to strive for a place in Europe.
The first leg will see them travel to Sweden on July 12, while the return fixture at the LFF Stadium is scheduled for July 19.
