Ghanaian midfielder Alhassan Wakaso is close to joining Portuguese side Vitoria Guimaraes from French Ligue 1 club FC Lorient in a reported two-year deal, according to Bola.

The 25-year-old was previously on the books of Rio Ave in 2014, making 73 league appearances across three seasons before moving to Lorient in January.

Wakaso made 11 appearances as Lorient crash out of the Ligue 1, losing the relegation play-offs to Troyes on a 2-1 aggregate.

Vitoria head coach Pedro Martins is hoping to strengthen his side with the Ghanaian ahead of their campaign in the Europa League next season after finishing fourth in the Primeira Liga.

Alhassan is the younger brother of Ghana midfielder Mubarak Wakaso, but unlike his senior brother, he is yet to make any appearance for the Black Stars.

He was invited against Egypt in the 2018 Fifa World Cup qualifier last year.
