It has been a 2018-19 UEFA Champions League season for the ages with the competition now about to hit its crescendo with an all-English final between Liverpool and Tottenham on Sunday.
It has been a season which has encapsulated everything, be it the last-gasp winners or dramatic comebacks. Along with some stellar team performances, the season has also seen some sensational individual displays which have turned the game on its head. This includes a glut of stunning free-kicks which have left goalkeepers grasping for thin air.
The usual suspects like Barcelona star Lionel Messi and PSG stalwart Neymar make the cut as we look back on the top 10 free-kicks of the season.
Messi features twice with the Argentine magician’s screamers against Liverpool and PSV both making our selection. Another man who features twice is Manchester City winger Leroy Sane with the German hurting his former employers Schalke as well as Bundesliga club Hoffenheim with his free-kick brilliance.
Also making the cut is Manchester United’s Juan Mata for his sweetly-struck free-kick against Juventus in Turin as well as Real Madrid’s Isco who scored one against Roma.
