The UAE President’s Cup draw took place this week to decide the teams that would face each other in the quarter finals of the competition. All big teams were available, except for Al Nasr, who suffered from a giant killing against Dibba Al Fujairah last week.
This should not confuse you with Fujairah, who are another club in the city of Fujairah that play in the UAE First Division unlike Dibba, and are coached by Diego Maradona.
President’s Cup holders and current UAE Super Cup winners Al Wahda were pitted once again against their Abu Dhabi rivals Al Jazira, whom they beat in the Super Cup Final last week. They also thrashed Al Jazira 6-0 in last year’s clash in the UAE Preisdent’s Cup.
Diego Maradona’s side Fujairah will meet UAE’s most successful club Al Ain, in what is sure to be an interesting clash as the UAE media will be focused on this game due to the presence of Maradona.
After Dibba defeated their rivals Al Nasr in the Round of 16, they now face Al Wasl in the quarter finals in what looks to be a tough game after the Al Wasl attack thrashed Baniyas 5-2 in the previous round.
Finally, the most successful club in this cup, Sharjah, will face Shabab Al Ahli in the final match of the round.
