The Reds have been without continental action this season after enduring a tough ending to their 2015-16 campaign.
A lack of midweek fixtures has aided their cause in the current campaign, with a title push pieced together before the turn of the year.
Liverpool have slipped off the pace somewhat in that particular race, but a top-four finish remains there to be shot at for a star-studded squad and a manager who graced the Champions League final during his time in charge of Borussia Dortmund.
Klopp told the Liverpool Echo on his efforts to bring European nights back to Anfield: “Things that I don’t have, I don’t miss.
“But of course I enjoyed being in that competition a lot and that’s where we want to be.
“To achieve that we need to qualify. We didn’t qualify this season. We are working to go there as soon as possible.
“We saw this week again what a strong competition the Europa League is too. Strong teams, intense games.
“We enjoyed it last season, well we did until the last match day! We had some wonderful games in that competition.
“But of course the Champions League is THE competition. We want to be part of it. To get there we have to win a few games.”
Liverpool are currently taking in a warm weather training camp in La Manga, with their early exit from the FA Cup meaning that they are not back in Premier League action until February 27.
