Sofapaka coach Sam Ssimbwa has urged his charges to focus and win their next match in the Kenyan Premier League.

Batoto ba Mungu launched their league campaign on a losing note after falling 3-0 to Bandari at Narok Stadium on Sunday. The Ugandan tactician is now unfazed by the result and has asked the team’s faithful not to read too much, saying there is still room for improvement.

“These things (defeats) happen all the time in football. We may have lost but that does not mean we have lost focus, not at all. I have asked the players to put behind them the loss and focus on our next match with a view to registering maximum points,” said Ssimbwa.

However, the tactician reckons that the new players have yet to gel with the seasoned lot and that this is an area he was working on.

“We have the right quality of players and especially the new ones but they have yet to blend with the rest. I’m sure if they do, we will not get the kind of result we got last weekend,” Ssimbwa told the club website.

On the same breath, Ssimbwa said their work is cut out against Kakamega Homeboyz in their next league match given that the Western Kenya side beat them home and away last year.

“Kakamega Homeboyz beat us twice last year and I call upon my players to strive and inflict revenge.”
