Selangor centre back Willian Pacheco's condition is better than it had initially appeared to be following the Red Giants' 1-1 second round semi-final draw against PKNS FC, assistant head coach Rusdi Suparman told Goal on Monday.
In the Saturday match that saw Selangor come away with a 5-1 win on aggregate to book their place in the FA Cup final match for the first time since 2009, the defender collided with the Red Ants forward Safee Sali halfway through the second half, and had to be stretchered off the pitch before he was substituted.
In the post-match presser, Selangor boss Nazliazmi Nasir said that the Brazilian's condition looked bad.
But on Monday, after a friendly match between Selangor and Premier League side UKM FC in Bangi, Rusdi said that Pacheco is doing much better than expected;
"He is doing well, and should be fit for the final this Saturday."
The Red Giants fielded their back-up players in the match, which ended in a 1-0 win to the second tier side. And while their key players were observed undergoing light training at the UKM ground, Pacheco was not seen there.
Interestingly, Nazliazmi himself was also missing from the friendly. According to Rusdi, the former youth coach had to take some time off from his duties, as he welcomed the arrival of his newborn child on the same day.
