Egypt coach Hector Cuper has invited 17 foreign-based players for the country’s friendly games against Portugal and Greece.
In preparation for their first appearance at the World Cup since 1990, the seven-time Africa Cup of Nations champions will begin their first training camp in Switzerland before heading to Belgium.
The north African country will square up against Portugal on March 23 at the Letzigrund before taking on Greece four days later at the same venue.
Mohamed Salah returns to Hector Cuper’s squad after he was rested for their last Fifa World Cup qualifying game against Ghana on November 12, 2017.
Regular fixtures including ageless Essam El-Hadary, Arsenal’s Mohamed Elneny, Stoke City’s Ramadan Sobhi earned their spot in the team while Al-Ain forward Hussein El-Shahat has been handed his maiden call-up following his impressive goalscoring feat in the Arabian Gulf League this season where he has notched seven goals in as many appearances.
Cuper is expected to add few players who ply their trade in the Egyptian league in the coming days.
