Raja Casablanca face Caf sanctions for use of flares during Confederation Cup final

Raja Casablanca could be in trouble with Caf after the excessive use of flares by their fans amid allegations of attacks on AS Vita players after the match.

The Moroccans emerged 3-0 winners but their fans almost spoiled the night when they threw flares whose smoke affected visibility on the Satede Mohamed V pitch and caused a brief delay to allow it to clear.

Caf are likely to charge Raja for the use of flares which is rampant in North Africa. Raja could also invite Caf sanctions after Vita alleged that some of their players were attacked by Raja players after match.

The Congolese giants are yet to confirm if they have reported the Moroccans to Caf but they tweeted, “Despite the defeat, our players were still attacked by Raja players.”

AS Vita midfielder Eddy Ngoyi was pictured with bloody lips, allegedly as a result of the assault.

The commotion after the match also saw Raja Casablanca forward Mouhssine Iajour being shown a red card by Senegalese referee Maguette Ndiaye.

The incident summed up an ill-tempered night which also had Vita defender Yannick Bangala being red-carded in open play.
