The Dutchman, who worked with the Ligue 1 outfit until earlier this month, does not believe that the Parisian outfit will allow the Italy star to go

Former Paris Saint-Germain sporting director Patrick Kluivert does not think that Barcelona’s bid to sign Marco Verratti will prove successful.

The Italy international is unsettled in Paris and has requested to move, but with four years left on his current deal, the Ligue 1 outfit are unlikely to allow him to depart.

There has been talk of a €100 million deal, but the former Netherlands international striker, who left his post at the Parc des Princes earlier in June, is pessimistic over the chances of a move taking place.

"I know that Verratti wants to sign with Barcelona but PSG won't allow it. It will be very difficult," he told La Sexta.

"Verratti will cost more than €100m.”

The 24-year-old is seen by those in Spain as a natural long-term replacement for Xavi, which is why strenuous efforts are likely to be made to sign him.

Nevertheless, PSG see the midfielder as one of the key players for their project’s future and are unlikely to let him go easily, having signed him from Pescara in 2012.
